I knew the noise was bad when pedestrians were stopping walking and looking at me.. EMBARRASSING
Like a loud metallic rattling noise…like a tractor…only a broken tractor…but worse…and louder
My van died yesterday
Bad times….real bad times, a ball ache and an expensive one
My lifeline
See i use the van to drive to all my personal training clients with all my equipment in east London, Essex, from Loughton, Wanstead, and Chigwell to hackney, canary wharf or the docklands (nice bit of website search help there )
In fact you may have seen me buzzing around music blaring, swearing in traffic or cutting down a short-cut side street to avoid the ever so crap London traffic
Now, I need a new van, or a new engine or the old one rebuilt or divine intervention
Bad times indeed
You see it may have been my fault
It may have been preventable
Im not really good with engines, i do the basics required, MOT, service, tyres etc but thats where it ends
And i missed the warning signs that could have meant a much better outcome
And this reminds me of the similarities i see with clients
People that come to me when the damage has been done
Already overweight, in ill health or suffering in some way
Which makes the job at hand harder, more time consuming, more work and more expensive when you are that far gone already
You see prevention is most definitely better than cure
You can start a healthier lifestyle today, BEFORE you put on weight or notice you are out of breath easily when rushing to catch the tube
Preventing ill health, time off work, trips to the doctors or hospitals, medication, missed family time, time with friends….all a ball ache (and maybe actual ball ache)
Putting off the things you know will help for fear of the work involved, the cost involved or just plain not enjoying it… and im just as guilty of doing this in all aspects of life apart from the health
Luckily this is ONE of the things im good at
Regardless of whether you want to lose weight, look better, train for an event or one of the many different initial reasons clients contact me for…
Ultimately your health is what matters, its THIS that will pay dividends in the future and is something that should be high up on your priorities
But that doesn’t mean you cant enjoy it (thats what im there for)
Unlike working on my car…ill still hate that BUT lesson learned
Plus great mechanic found that just might save my bacon (my van is called bacon!)
